Markham and Richmond Hill sit next to each other in York Region and share a transportation profile: substantial corporate presence, dispersed residential neighbourhoods and a genuine distance from Pearson that makes airport timing the main planning question.
The technology corridor
Markham hosts one of the largest concentrations of technology and telecommunications employers in Canada, much of it clustered along Highway 404 and Highway 7. That produces steady corporate demand: visiting executives collected from Pearson, client transport between offices, and teams heading to conferences. Consistency and billing that a finance department can process matter more here than anything else.
Getting to Pearson from York Region
- Highway 407 across the top of the city is usually the fastest route.
- Highway 404 to the 401 westbound is the alternative, and the less predictable one.
- Peak-period journeys should allow substantially more time than off-peak.
The 401 through North York and Etobicoke is the section that causes problems. When it is moving, the trip is straightforward; when it is not, the 407 pays for itself several times over.
Unionville and local occasions
Historic Unionville and the surrounding area host a steady calendar of weddings, anniversaries and community events. Main Street is charming and narrow, and larger vehicles need a plan for where they can stop. We work this out in advance rather than at the moment of arrival.
Richmond Hill and the Yonge corridor
Richmond Hill runs along Yonge Street with residential development spreading east and west. Journey times within the town are short; journeys out of it depend entirely on which highway you join and when.
